Hat yai: Deputy Commissioner of the Provincial Police Region 1 has taken decisive action in Hat Yai by ordering police to accompany rescue workers following reports of gunfire threats. This comes amid ongoing challenges posed by floodwaters impacting communication systems in the area.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trirong Phiwpaen, Deputy Inspector General of the Royal Thai Police, visited Hat Yai District in Songkhla Province to address the flood situation and support officers on the ground. This visit aligns with the directive from Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, the National Police Chief, who has emphasized the importance of high-ranking officers ensuring the welfare of citizens and motivating frontline workers.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong's visit to Khlong Hae Subdistrict highlighted the critical issues of disrupted telephone and electricity services, which pose significant challenges to livelihoods and public utilities. Efforts have been made to collaborate with network service providers to restore effective communication between the public and rescue teams.
In response to reports of stressed residents firing at rescue workers, Pol. Col. Pasit Santiprachaya, Deputy Commander of Songkhla Provincial Police, has mandated close cooperation between police and rescue personnel to enhance safety and confidence during operations. Additional personnel can be requested by agencies as needed to ensure comprehensive support.
To curb criminal activity, particularly theft by gangs exploiting the chaos, police have intensified patrols around the clock. In cases where theft has already occurred, authorities are working swiftly to gather evidence, track down suspects, and ensure they face justice.
