According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Ekniti Nitithanpraphas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, disclosed that a recent meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister, involved various ministries and agencies to coordinate assistance for the Hat Yai District and other southern provinces impacted by the floods. The meeting focused on ensuring telecommunications networks remain operational during the crisis, facilitating quick and flexible support, and included initiatives like debt suspension, rehabilitation loans, cost-of-living reductions, and tax deductions.

The Comptroller General's Department has established a 100 million baht trial fund for immediate use by provincial governors. Additionally, amendments to procurement laws will allow for prompt assistance to local residents. The Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) has been directed to work with insurance companies to hasten the filing of property claims, providing necessary funds once water levels recede and damage assessments are possible. The Budget Bureau is prepared to distribute the 9,000 baht compensation per household immediately.

Mr. Ekniti further explained that state banks are offering several relief options, including debt suspensions and interest-free loans. The Treasury Department is collaborating with universities and government agencies to set up temporary shelters for displaced individuals. Concurrently, the Ministry of Commerce will regulate the supply of consumer goods at reduced prices to affected areas through the Ministry of Finance's Vayuphak network and related agencies.

Mr. Chuchat Pramulphon, Secretary-General of the OIC, announced plans to expedite insurance assistance for those impacted. The OIC will issue an announcement to streamline claim processes and coordinate with the insurance industry to ensure timely compensation for policyholders.

Preliminary assessments in Hat Yai District reveal that 3,000 vehicles and nearly all homes have suffered damage. Insured individuals are advised to photograph damaged property to facilitate quick insurance notifications. Vehicle damage will be categorized into levels, with compensation adjusted accordingly. Special provisions are included for hybrid and electric vehicles, with additional compensation reflecting the cost of battery replacement.
