Bangkok: The Government Pension Fund (GPF) and the National Savings Bank have announced a collaboration aimed at upgrading Big Data and digital technology to bolster the efficiency of their operations.
According to Thai News Agency, the Government Savings Bank (GSB) has also entered into a partnership with the Big Data Institute (GDPI) to specifically enhance the technological processes involved in GSB lottery prize drawings. This strategic move is part of a broader initiative to integrate advanced data management techniques into financial operations.
Ms. Jarulak Ruangsuwan, Secretary-General of the National Savings Fund (NSF), highlighted the importance of financial security for Thai citizens aged between 15 and 60. She detailed that savings could begin at 50 baht and extend up to 30,000 baht annually, with government matching contributions reaching up to 100%, capped at 1,800 baht per year depending on age. To manage this efficiently, the NSF is focusing on accumulating a comprehensive database of its members and plans to conduct NSF lottery draws in the future. Utilizing Big Data is seen as a critical step to support informed decision-making processes.
The collaboration also encompasses the development of marketing strategies for the NSF and its lottery tickets. These strategies are intended to cater to user needs, foster savings habits among the public, and provide informal sector workers with pension opportunities. Furthermore, the partnership aims to enhance the management efficiency of the fund. Knowledge development in data management, personnel training in data operations, adherence to international data management standards, and leveraging data for national development are key areas of focus in this collaboration.
Dr. Suntaree Songsoem, Deputy Director of the Big Data Institute (BDI), emphasized BDI's commitment to supporting government agencies in establishing systematic and standardized data management practices. These practices include comprehensive data collection, effective data cataloging, the establishment of a data governance framework, and the processing and analysis of big data. The ultimate goal is to ensure the efficient, transparent, and reliable use of data while facilitating the linkage and development of government data at the national level.
