Government Launches ‘Thai Helps Thai Plus 60/40’ Initiative to Boost Economy

Bangkok: The government will launch the “Thai Chuay Thai Plus 60/40” initiative tomorrow, emphasizing that the process is easy via G-Wallet, with the government contributing up to 200 baht per day.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that the “Thai Helps Thai Plus 60/40” project is set to officially launch to reduce the cost of living for citizens, stimulate the grassroots economy, and increase liquidity for small retailers nationwide. The initiative stresses the importance of providing clear and accurate usage instructions for citizens. Beginning at 6:00 AM, citizens can access the program through the Paotang application by selecting the “Thai Helps Thai Plus” banner and checking their initial allocated amount. To make purchases, citizens must first top up their G-Wallet. Merchants will then open the Thung Ngern application to generate a QR code, which citizens will scan using the Paotang app to pay. The system will automatically calculate the co-payment proportion before finalizing the transaction with a 6-digit PIN.

The project operates on a co-payment principle, with the government contributing 60% and the public covering 40%. For instance, if goods cost 100 baht, the government will contribute 60 baht, leaving the public to pay 40 baht. For purchases totaling 333 baht, the government will contribute up to the daily maximum of 200 baht, while the public will cover 133 baht. Support from the government is capped at 200 baht per day and 1,000 baht per month. Allocated funds will be finalized at month’s end and are non-transferable to subsequent months. Applications for the project will be open from June 1st to September 30th, 2026.

The government aims for the ‘Thai Helps Thai Plus 60/40’ project to be a measure that is easily accessible to the public, simplifying usage and effectively reducing living costs, while simultaneously generating economic activity at the grassroots level nationwide.
