According to Thai News Agency, the Government Housing Bank (GHB) is taking significant steps to support the government’s policy aimed at addressing the ongoing energy crisis. GHB has announced the availability of additional loans for existing customers who wish to install solar roofs, with interest rates starting as low as 1.00% per year. This initiative is designed to assist customers in reducing their electricity costs sustainably.
Dr. Mahatthana Ampornphisit, Managing Director of GHB, highlighted the bank’s commitment to the government’s policy of aiding those affected by the Middle Eastern conflict. The bank is facilitating additional loans for customers intending to install solar roofs or renovate their homes for improved energy efficiency, ultimately reducing both electricity costs and living expenses in the long run. Customers can apply for a maximum loan amount of 300,000 baht per person. The first 100,000 baht will be offered at an interest rate of 1.00% per year, requiring monthly payments of 2,900 baht. The next 200,000 baht will carry an interest rate of 1.99% per year. The loan term extends up to 5 years, with monthly payments beginning at 3,600 baht, subject to the bank’s regulations in the Home Repair and Renovation loan product.
Dr. Mahatthana further stated that GHB is dedicated to promoting energy-efficient housing by encouraging the installation of solar roofs, a crucial step in reducing long-term energy costs for the public. The bank is committed to supporting the use of clean energy by offering accessible loan products characterized by low interest rates and affordable monthly payments. This initiative aligns with the country’s economic and environmental development goals.
