Bangkok: "Big Lek," formally known as General Apirat Kongsompong, took part in a "Veterans" event to express solidarity with soldiers safeguarding Thailand's sovereignty along the Thai-Cambodian border. The event aimed to bolster morale and urged vigilance against potential Cambodian espionage activities.
According to Thai News Agency, General Natthaphol Nakpanich, the Minister of Defence, was also present, joining around 550 war veterans in a demonstration of support for frontline soldiers stationed in the seven provinces bordering Cambodia. The gathering, held at the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence (Srisaman), featured the singing of the Thai national anthem and the royal anthem to inspire the troops engaged in border defense.
The event recognized the challenging and intense nature of the ongoing conflict along the border. Despite the difficulties, Thai forces have successfully maintained strategic positions and disrupted the Cambodian army's operations. The veterans' presence and support served as a reminder of the shared commitment to defending the nation, akin to the sacrifices made by soldiers in past conflicts.
General Natthaphol emphasized the courage and dedication of the frontline soldiers, acknowledging the sacrifices made in the line of duty. He encouraged veterans to continue serving their country in various capacities, whether through vigilance against espionage or supporting public service initiatives. The minister expressed gratitude for the collective efforts and goodwill of all those involved in protecting the nation and assisting fellow citizens during times of need.
