Bangkok: Gas stations across Thailand are playing a pivotal role in aiding farmers by distributing their produce, particularly coconuts and lime juice. Reporters have observed that these stations not only contribute to energy security but also provide a platform for farmers. The latest initiative involves a collaboration with the Department of Internal Trade, which offers free coconuts at PT, OR, Bangchak, and Susco stations when customers fill up their tanks. Additionally, Bangchak is promoting a free coconut juice offer.
According to Thai News Agency, Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited has launched a special year-end promotion titled "Fill Up at Bangchak, More Than 100% Power, Full Speed." This initiative aims to both refresh customers and support local communities. Members of Bangchak Green Miles who spend 1,200 baht on Bangchak gasohol can receive a free 250-ml can of Farmza Mapeed Soda or a 150-ml bottle of M-150 diesel. This promotion, available from December 1, 2025, to February 15, 2026, supports mapeed farmers from Chanthaburi Province and aligns with Bangchak's sustainability goals.
Mr. Witthayakorn Maneenet, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, stated that the department is enhancing the stability of fragrant coconut prices by partnering with major gas stations to purchase 80,000 coconuts from Ratchaburi Province. These will be distributed as souvenirs from December 4-6, 2025, or until supplies last, covering 547 gas stations in Bangkok and its vicinity.
The Department of Internal Trade has implemented several measures to support coconut farmers, having already absorbed over 830,000 coconuts, which resulted in a price increase. The new initiative targets an additional 460,000-500,000 coconuts, with purchasing points established to set market-leading prices. The department also collaborates with private companies, government agencies, and the Stock Exchange of Thailand to facilitate sales and pre-order activities. Expanded distribution channels include 20 CSR and sales points in prominent locations, delivering coconuts directly to consumers.
The department's long-term strategy focuses on promoting fragrant coconut consumption through popular cooking shows and expanding export markets. Highlighting the storage advantage of Thai coconuts, the department encourages farmers to register as growers to enable systematic management of production and marketing.
