Bangkok: Yi Thanakun has lodged a complaint with the Speaker of the House of Representatives regarding a notorious hospital that allegedly deceived him into undergoing plastic surgery, including rib cutting and a nose job, which turned out to involve only silicone.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Thanakun Jit-Issara, President of the Santi Prachadham Club, submitted a formal letter to the Speaker through Mr. Khampee Dithakorn, Spokesperson of the Speaker of the House, seeking assistance in addressing and preventing fraud in rib surgery used for nose jobs. He provided documents related to examination, treatment, and surgery to substantiate his claims.
Mr. Thanakun reported receiving complaints about fraudulent plastic surgery at a well-known hospital. The victim, a business owner involved in exporting goods, paid 250,000 baht for a surgery intended to use a rib bone to construct a nose bridge. However, the results revealed uneven and twisted nostrils. Subsequent investigation, including a video of the re
construction process, showed no rib bones were used, despite a surgical wound under the right breast. When the victim confronted the hospital, the owner allegedly dismissed his concerns, accusing him of seeking money and attention. The hospital refunded 240,000 baht but admitted to not using actual bone.
Mr. Thanakun further stated that the victim is undergoing additional X-ray and MRI tests to confirm whether the right rib was removed, as previous examinations showed no missing ribs. Legal action, both criminal and civil, will be pursued if this is confirmed. He urged the Speaker to forward the case to relevant agencies and highlight the risks posed by deceptive medical institutions. The incident could harm Thailand’s health economy, given the international reputation of Thai surgical practices.
Mr. Thanakun expressed concerns that the revelation might prompt others to question the authenticity of their surgeries, especially those involving ear and rib bones. The hospital in question is widely recognized a
nd reputable, making the allegations more shocking. Currently, only one victim has come forward, but Mr. Thanakun fears more may emerge once the story gains attention.
Mr. Kamphee confirmed that he will present the case to the President of the House of Representatives, aiming to involve relevant committees to ensure the victims receive appropriate relief.
