Bangkok: Government spokesman reveals that electricity bills will be waived for November 2025 in Songkhla Province to alleviate flooding. Prime Minister's Office Spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat revealed that relief and rehabilitation efforts in flood-affected areas, particularly in Songkhla Province, are progressing significantly. Currently, over 90% of residents have been repatriated. This includes urban cleanup and restoration, waste management, and even assistance with consumer goods. Meanwhile, public utilities are now able to produce and distribute tap water to 100% of the public. The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) is currently providing 100% electricity to key government offices and hospitals. However, some residents remain without electricity. The PEA has installed temporary power kits (main switchboards) to provide initial electricity. Repairs will be integrated and expedited.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul stated that although the state of emergency has been lifted in Songkhla Province, rehabilitation and relief measures will remain the same. Through electricity assistance, flood-affected electricity users in Songkhla Province, which has been declared a disaster area, will be exempt from electricity bills for November 2025 for residential homes. A total of 451,211 people have been affected, with electricity bills totaling 420 million baht (including Ft and VAT). The monthly electricity bill will be paid from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand's own revenue.
