Lake Como:Members of the EuroLeague have turned down a proposal from the NBA to merge the two leagues into what would be called NBA Europe. This decision was reached following a meeting in Lake Como, Italy, where the NBA's formal proposal was discussed.
According to Thai News Agency, the NBA had been exploring the possibility of establishing a new league in Europe for two years before formally presenting their proposal. The NBA's plan, led by Adam Silver, was considered by EuroLeague member clubs to be unfair in terms of the distribution of benefits and was seen as potentially harmful to the existing European basketball culture.
Despite the NBA's intentions, the EuroLeague members voted against the proposal, prioritizing the preservation of their league's structure and cultural significance.
