Ekanit Hints at Government’s Preparations for “Half-Half 2 Phases”

Bangkok: Ekniti hinted that the Anutin government is preparing to launch a "Half-Half 2 Phase" program. Siriphong confirmed that it will definitely happen between December and January, pending the completion of the first round, which distributed 33 million rights.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Ekniti Nitithanpraphat, gave an interview regarding the Cabinet meeting agenda following next week's policy statement, stating that the Cabinet will review the 2025 budget to determine what actions need to be taken.

When asked if the majority of the money would be used in the "Half-Half" project, Mr. Ekniti stated no, as the Budget Bureau is currently reviewing it. Regarding when implementation will begin, the Finance Minister stated that the matter will be brought to the Cabinet meeting in the second week of October, and that preparations are currently underway.

Meanwhile, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Deputy Leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, revealed details of the eligibility criteria for the Half-Half Phase 1 project, stating that there are approximately 33 million eligible persons. These are divided into 13 million eligible persons with low incomes who receive state welfare cards, and 20 million eligible persons from the general public.

In addition, Mr. Siripong stated that there is a condition that if you are a citizen who was previously in the Half-Half Phase 5 project, you must verify your identity and re-register.

The Finance Minister stated that the "Half-Half" project will have two phases. Mr. Siripong confirmed that it will definitely happen. The Minister has received policy from the Prime Minister to oversee Phase 2 of the "Half-Half" program. The outcome of Phase 1 will depend on the completion of Phase 1, which is expected to take place in December or January.
