DSI ready to handle 'The Icon' case, waiting for police to transfer case today, currently in the process of coordination. Pol. Lt. Col. Woranan Srilam, Director of the Non-system Financial Business Cases Division and Spokesperson of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), spoke about the approach to accepting the ICON case as a special case after receiving the policy from the meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Vejjayachai last Saturday. He said that it was a joint opinion of both the police and the DSI. The government saw that the ICON case had many victims and damages, so it was elevated to a special case. There are two ways to accept it as a special case: it is within the authority of the Director-General to accept the case, but it is not within the authority of the Director-General to accept it himself. It is proposed to the Special Case Board to consider accepting the case. As for the date set for October 28 or today, the case will be handed over to the DSI. Currently, we are waitin g to coordinate with the police. The police are expediting their internal police processes, preparing documents summarizing the facts of the evidence, which are important elements for the DSI to consider accepting the case. If it has to go to the Special Case Committee, when the DSI receives it from the police, there is a process to expedite it to the Special Case Board meeting as soon as possible. For the second batch of arrest warrants, what will the police or DSI do? Pol. Lt. Col. Woranan said that they must consider the process of transferring it as a special case first, using integrated investigation laws, and inviting experts to join as investigators. If the police send the case to DSI, what are the facts? DSI will announce the details again. Source: Thai News Agency
