Nonthaburi: A drunk driver suspect died mysteriously in his cell. Doctors suspect that he drank too much alcohol, which caused him to go into shock and rupture a blood vessel in his brain. His daughter does not suspect any cause of death after reviewing the CCTV footage. According to Thai News Agency, at 6:30 a.m. today, the sergeant on duty at the detention room at Chaiyaphruek Police Station in Nonthaburi Province informed his superiors that Mr. Thong Sai, aged 57, a suspect in a drunk driving case who had been detained in the station's cell since yesterday evening, had died in his cell. The prosecutor, the administrative department, and a doctor from the Institute of Forensic Medicine were contacted to perform an autopsy on the deceased. Inquiries revealed that the deceased had been detained in the cell since yesterday evening after reversing his car and hitting the other party's car. When the traffic police arrived at the scene, they measured the alcohol level in his body and found that the deceased had an alcohol level of 135 milligrams percent. They therefore charged him with drunk driving and detained him in the cell to prepare to send him to court today. While being detained, the deceased was alone in the cell and occasionally started yelling before stopping on his own. At 3 a.m., the sergeant guarding the cell also found the deceased snoring. It is estimated that he had died shortly before the sergeant on duty in the cell saw him. Later, Ms. Thipawan, 56 years old, his wife and daughter traveled to Chaiyaphruek Police Station and revealed that her husband works as an insurance claim officer for an insurance company in Pathum Thani Province. Yesterday, her husband said that he was going to clear up documents at the company and then disappeared. Until she heard the news that her husband was arrested by the police for drunk driving. Normally, her husband would drink 2-3 bottles of beer a day and then go home to sleep. But yesterday, she was not sure if he went to work and then went drinking somewhere else with a group of friends or not, which is why he got so drunk that he was arrested. Now, she still has doubts about the cause of death because her husband did not have any underlying diseases. Pol. Lt. Col. Smith Samae, the sergeant on duty at the detention room, said that the deceased was being held in a cell, looking like a drunk person who was unconscious. He walked around to check and it looked like he was drunk and asleep, nothing out of the ordinary. The air and temperature were normal. He did not think that this would happen. Ms. Fa Sai, 23 years old, the daughter, revealed after going to see her father's body lying dead in the cell that her father was lying dead with both hands tensed and clenched in front of his chest. Her father was alone in the cell and there were no wounds on his body. The doctor who initially examined him said that it was likely caused by drinking a large amount of alcohol, which caused him to go into shock and rupture a blood vessel in his brain. At the moment, she is not suspi cious of the cause of death and will let the legal process take its course.
