Bangkok: Police arrested a drug-dealing couple who were preparing to distribute drugs to customers in packages. Investigators from Nang Loeng Police Station launched a sting operation to purchase narcotics via the LINE app using the account name 'FEI FENG.' This led to the arrest of a drug-dealing couple, along with a large quantity of ecstasy and ketamine, and numerous packaging materials intended for distributing drugs to customers throughout Bangkok.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred on April 24, 2016, at approximately 6:55 PM. Authorities arrested Mr. Sompong, or Art, Nonthachai Ngam, 25 years old, in front of Ratchadamnoen Condo, Wat Sommanat Subdistrict, Pom Prap Sattru Phai District, Bangkok, and subsequently in front of Building 3, Intravio Condo Town, Soi Phraya Suren 19, Bang Chan Subdistrict, Khlong Sam Wa District. Further investigation led to a search of room 78/825 on the 2nd floor of Building 3, where Ms. Chonthicha, or Mee, Saibutra, 24 years old, the girlfriend of the first suspect, was arrested. This stemmed from a tip received on April 22, 2016, from an informant who stated that ecstasy could be ordered via the LINE account 'FEI FENG,' with payments to be made to a Kasikorn Bank account under the name of Ms. Chonthicha Saibutra. Authorities then planned a sting operation, culminating in an additional order of ecstasy and ketamine on April 24th, and tracking the delivery route from the rider. The authorities traced the dr ug stash to Intraviolet Condo Town. At 6:55 PM, officers who had been lying in wait in the area observed a suspicious man delivering drugs to a delivery rider. His appearance matched that of the man in the CCTV footage, so they apprehended him. Mr. Sompong confessed to having two bags of ketamine hidden in a package and also possessing more drugs in his room. A search of his apartment revealed his girlfriend along with a large quantity of drugs.
The seized items included 24 ecstasy pills in various colors, featuring cartoon characters "Mario" and "Shinji"; three ecstasy pills in a Kit Kat snack wrapper; ketamine in 17 pouches with a net weight of approximately 6.49 grams; 20 parcel boxes; 20 Flash Express parcel envelopes; over 135 zip-lock bags in various sizes; "THANK YOU" tape and stickers; and one digital scale.
Initial charges have been filed for jointly selling Category 1 narcotic drugs (Ecstasy), possessing them for sale and selling them, which constitutes a commercial act and causes their distribution among the public, as well as jointly selling a psychotropic substance of type 2 (ketamine), possessing it for sale and selling it for commercial purposes, and causing its distribution among the public.
Both suspects confessed to jointly selling ecstasy and ketamine before being taken to Nang Loeng Police Station for legal proceedings. This arrest was made under the direction of Acting Police Colonel Kittipong Choomuang, Superintendent of Nang Loeng Police Station, who instructed Police Lieutenant Colonel Krisana Phiwthongngam, Head of the Investigation Unit, and his investigation team to carry out the arrest.
