Chiang mai: The North is experiencing freezing conditions as temperatures continue to plummet, with Doi Inthanon now covered in white frost. In Chiang Mai, the lowest temperature recorded was 11 degrees Celsius, prompting residents to adapt to the cold.
According to Thai News Agency, the temperature on Doi Inthanon's peak dropped to 3 degrees Celsius this morning, causing frost to blanket the grass and leaves in the mountaintop parking area for the fifth consecutive day. This phenomenon has created a stunning display that has excited tourists visiting the area. Meanwhile, the lowlands, including Chiang Mai city and nearby districts, experienced colder-than-usual temperatures, reaching a low of 11 degrees Celsius. Residents, especially those commuting on motorcycles, were seen wearing warm clothing, including sweaters, hats, and gloves, to combat the cold wind as they went about their morning routines. Many were unprepared for such a significant drop in temperature.
Similar to many northern provinces, temperatures are expected to decrease by another 1-2 degrees Celsius, attributed to high pressure or a strong cold air mass covering the upper northern region. Residents are advised to take care of their health and stay aware of fire hazards due to the dry weather conditions.
