Bang Sue:A diesel locomotive collided with a passenger train in the long-distance railway yard, resulting in damage to both trains and injuring one employee. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is conducting an urgent investigation into the cause of the incident.
According to Thai News Agency, the accident occurred when a shunting locomotive collided with a convoy of CNR sleeper trains, causing structural damage. The front of the locomotive was significantly damaged, with the metal body of the CNR sleeping car carriages crumpled and bent inward.
Following the incident, officials promptly responded by providing first aid and transporting the injured to hospitals. The area was secured to prevent disruptions to other train services. The SRT confirmed that train operations and passenger travel were not affected by the incident.
The SRT reported that the accident involved diesel shunting locomotive number 4025 and a set of passenger carriages from train number 32, parked in the long-distance railway yard. The SRT has tasked relevant departments with a detailed investigation covering operational procedures, train movement control, and the condition of equipment and signaling systems to determine the cause.
Efforts are underway to assess the damage, and the removal of damaged carriages is being prioritized to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
