Bangkok: The court has denied bail for Premchai and other suspects involved in the collapse of the Office of the Auditor General building, resulting in their imprisonment. The court stated that the case has caused significant damage and has a profound impact on society.
According to Thai News Agency, the suspects' relatives and lawyers had filed a petition for temporary release during detention. However, after examining the investigator, petitioner, and accused, the court concluded that the accused were involved in the case, which has resulted in considerable and alarming damage to the public. Both the investigator and the victim opposed the temporary release, citing concerns that the accused might flee, complicating efforts to locate them.
The court further noted that the case requires testimony from 15 additional witnesses. The investigation's outcome is awaited before making a detailed and thorough consideration of the order. At this stage, the court decided against permitting the temporary release of the accused. The request for bail was dismissed, and subsequently, prison officers took all the accused into custody, detaining them at the Bangkok Special Prison.
