Bangkok: The Commerce Ministry is intensifying controls during the New Year holiday season, deploying special inspection teams to check gas stations nationwide. The Department of Internal Trade is focusing on consumer protection by verifying the accuracy of fuel dispensers across the country. This initiative aims to ensure fair trade practices, reduce living costs, and boost public confidence, particularly for travelers and those returning to their hometowns.
According to Thai News Agency, the initiative aligns with the Minister of Commerce's policy and encourages participation in the standardized fuel dispenser program at gas stations. Currently, over 6,800 stations, representing more than 85% of major brand stations nationwide, are participating in the program. The inspection plan is set to run from December 1st to 26th, 2025, and aims to cover at least 2,000 stations or approximately 40,000 dispensers located on major routes and tourist destinations across the country.
Citizens are encouraged to report any unfair practices or the use of illegal fuel dispensers by calling the hotline 1569 or contacting the provincial commerce office.
