Bangkok: The Commander of Army Region 2 was honored with a medal bearing the image of King Rama X, which was presented to military personnel as a morale booster in recognition of their service. This event took place on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King's 6th cycle birthday anniversary, celebrated on 28 July 2024.
According to Thai News Agency, Mrs. Yupha Thaweewatthanakitbaworn, Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister, led Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang, Commander of the 2nd Army Area, in a ceremonial event to receive the Royal Medal of His Majesty the King. The ceremony was held in front of the portraits of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen. The medals were subsequently presented to personnel under their supervision, aiming to boost the morale of those performing their duties in the area. Mrs. Yupha Thaweewatthanakitbaworn chaired this event.
The creation of this royal medallion was inspired by Somdet Phra Ariyawongsakattaya Somdet Phra Sangharaja Sakol Maha Sanghaparinayok. The royal medallion was conceived as a souvenir to commemorate the auspicious occasion and to honor the virtue of Dharma. To mark His Majesty the King's 60th birthday, His Majesty granted permission for its creation. Additionally, His Majesty graciously allowed for the distribution of 500,000 royal medallions. These medallions were entrusted to the Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission for distribution to deserving civil servants, soldiers, police officers, and members of the public, symbolizing prosperity and auspiciousness. The distribution began on June 30th, reaching personnel across various agencies.
