China’s Green Energy Innovations Propel Towards Carbon Neutrality

Beijing: China is advancing its green energy innovation to meet its ambitious carbon goals, primarily aiming for peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.

According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Paijit Wiboonthanasarn has unveiled two pioneering energy innovations that are reshaping global energy landscapes. The first, the “Win Power Airship,” represents a breakthrough in wind energy technology. Unlike traditional wind turbines, which face limitations due to height and inconsistent wind conditions, this new technology involves electricity-generating airships that float approximately 2 kilometers above the ground. Equipped with 12 small wind turbines, each producing 385 kilowatts, these airships offer a total capacity exceeding 1 megawatt, making them suitable for village-level electricity supply. The electricity generated is transmitted directly to the ground through cables, offering a practical solution for countries with limited space or hard-to-reach areas.

The second innovation focuses on space-based solar power, an initiative to harness sunlight from space. This technology bypasses terrestrial limitations like clouds and dust, ensuring constant and efficient energy production. China has successfully tested the transmission of this harvested energy from space to ground-based receiving stations, poised for distribution to remote communities. This project, involving collaboration between thirteen public and private sector organizations, aims for commercial implementation by 2035.

Beyond these aerial advancements, China is also pushing forward with ground-based clean energy projects. A mega-dam project in Tibet, set to be three times the size of the Three Gorges Dam, has been approved and is expected to be the world’s largest clean energy source, significantly reducing regional pollution. Additionally, at the China-South Asia Expo in Kunming, China demonstrated the integration of AI technology for environmental protection, including the construction of flow-through dams.

These developments underscore China’s commitment to building robust alliances and supply chains, facilitating the rapid realization of these innovative projects. As China moves towards becoming a modern socialist state, it positions itself as a global leader in green energy, driving significant progress in the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions.
