China to Approve Rare Earth Export Requests for Civilian Use

Beijing: China has announced its intention to approve export requests for rare earth minerals intended for civilian purposes. This decision, confirmed by China's Commerce Ministry, underscores the country's commitment to processing applications that fulfill specific criteria and adhere to legal protocols.

According to Thai News Agency, Ministry spokesman He Yadong addressed concerns about potential restrictions on rare earth exports to the United States. He emphasized China's dedication to maintaining the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains. He assured that China considers the civilian demand and concerns of various countries, including the United States, and is committed to fostering rules-based trade.

When questioned about the possibility of extending the suspension of export controls on rare earth minerals, following reports of upcoming U.S.-China negotiations, He clarified that the current suspension, which began on October 9, 2025, will remain in effect until November 10, 2026. This decision aligns with the consensus achieved during the recent China-U.S. economic and trade discussions held in Kuala Lumpur.

Additionally, He highlighted that ongoing communication between China and the United States will be maintained through their established economic and trade consultation mechanism, ensuring that both parties can address each other's concerns effectively.
