Wenzhou: China's National Meteorological Center has extended its blue typhoon warning as Typhoon Dolphin, the 13th typhoon of 2026, edges closer to the country's eastern coast.
According to Thai News Agency, as of 5:00 AM on Thursday, Typhoon Dolphin was positioned about 1,360 kilometers east of Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, in the northwest Pacific Ocean, with maximum sustained winds reaching 42 meters per second near its center.
The center predicts that Typhoon Dolphin will move westward at a speed of 15-20 kilometers per hour. It is expected to maintain its current intensity or possibly intensify slightly before entering the East China Sea on Friday, gradually nearing China's eastern coastline. Strong winds are anticipated across most areas of the East China Sea, the southeastern Yellow Sea, waters east of Taiwan, the eastern coast of Taiwan, the Bashi Channel, and the central and southern parts of the South China Sea from 8:00 AM Thursday until 8:00 AM Friday.
The center is urging residents in China's eastern coastal regions to stay informed about typhoon forecasts and early warning systems, advising them to prepare for potential impacts from the approaching storm.
