Chiang rai: The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security in Chiang Rai has successfully relocated an elderly grandmother affected by the recent flood crisis from the hospital to her son's home. Warawut, representing the ministry, confirmed the operation's success, emphasizing the effectiveness of the disaster risk map in identifying those in need.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, received updates from the Disaster Vulnerable Groups Administration Center (DDPC) about the assistance provided to the grandmother. Mr. Winai Kengsuwan, the Chiang Rai Provincial Social Development and Human Security Officer, along with the Ministry's team and relevant agencies, coordinated the effort. The grandmother, who was initially hospitalized due to an injury sustained from the flooding in her Mae Pao Subdistrict home, was moved with her grandfather and son to her son's house in the same area. The son's house was not damaged by the flood, allowing them to stay together safely.
The ministry's use of the disaster risk map has been pivotal in locating vulnerable groups and coordinating timely assistance during crises. This tool has been instrumental in ensuring that help reaches those who need it most, minimizing the impact of the disaster on affected families. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security continues to collaborate with the Chiang Rai Governor and the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department to prioritize aid for vulnerable groups.
