Bangkok: Bowie Atthama recently took to the skies to deliver much-needed relief to flood-stricken areas in southern Thailand. The well-known actress sent 4,000 vacuum-packed packages of sticky rice and fried chicken via a Royal Rainmaking aircraft, targeting the Ban Phru community in Hat Yai, a region severely affected by rising waters.
According to Thai News Agency, Atthama collaborated with the School of Life Foundation, whose Dhamma practitioner volunteers dedicated three days to prepare and pack the food parcels. The relief effort aimed to reach those most in need, with plans to further support the area once the floodwaters recede. The foundation also intends to use a six-wheel truck to deliver essential supplies to the Ban Phru community, where floodwaters have reached alarming levels.
Atthama urged the public to contribute by considering what items might be essential for flood victims once the immediate threat passes. She suggested donations of blankets, clothes, mattresses, medicine, and other necessary items in good condition. Contributions can be sent to the School of Life Foundation, located at On Nut Soi 8, or donors can call 02-117-406 for more information. Alternatively, monetary donations can be transferred to the foundation's Kasikorn Bank account, 003-2-415867.
The Royal Rainmaking Project praised the foundation's vacuum-packing method, noting its effectiveness in ensuring the food remained dry during delivery. The popularity of the sticky rice and chicken packages demonstrates the success of this initiative, which has also inspired many netizens to participate in the relief efforts and make merit.
