Bhumjaithai Party submits amendment to Local Administration Act

'Bhumjaithai' submitted an amendment to the Local Administration Act, extending the position of village headmen in municipalities, helping to take care of the people, being a helping hand for the local administrative organizations, believing that all parties will agree. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, along with representatives of Bhumjaithai Party MPs, jointly submitted amendments to the draft Local Government Act to Paradorn Prisananantakul, Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. Mr. Anutin said that this amendment is to maintain the positions of village headmen and kamnans in municipalities after the Administrative Court ordered the elimination of the positions of village headmen and kamnans if a municipality is upgraded from a sub-district municipality to a town municipality or a city municipality. According to the law, village headmen and kamnans must be elimination within 1 year so that there is no conflict with the current Act. In addition, to make it clear that even if there is decentralization, the election of local administrators, village headmen and sub-district headmen will continue because they are close and can take care of the people. Local administrative organizations have village headmen and sub-district headmen as coordinators, so they can go deeper into the area. In this regard, we have talked with the coalition government and opposition parties and believe that the amendment of this section will benefit the people and we sincerely hope that all political parties will consider and give their approval. When it will be completed depends on when the Speaker of the House of Representatives will consider it and specify it in the agenda of the meeting, but it is expected to be in the next meeting or in December.
