Bangkok: Bangkok has taken swift action against officials who used altered images to report results on the Traffy Fondue platform, collaborating with NSTDA to develop a system to filter fake images and swiftly restore public trust.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ekwaranyu Amrapal, the spokesperson for Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, addressed a complaint concerning motorcycle parking on a footpath in Soi Charansanitwong 77/1, Bang O Subdistrict, Bang Phlat District, filed via the Traffy Fondue application on July 16, 2025. Municipal officers responsible for addressing the issue used edited images to falsely indicate resolution, leading to public criticism after the 'Thai Style Footpath' page highlighted the matter online. The Bang Phlat District Office investigated the incident and has initiated disciplinary actions against the involved officers.
Mr. Ekwaranyu further stated that the district's use of AI to delete images falsely showed resolution, prompting Bangkok executives to instruct the Bang Phlat District Director to urgently rectify the issue. A circular will be issued to all districts, strictly prohibiting the forgery, editing of images, or use of false information to close complaints. Violations will result in appropriate disciplinary measures.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is working with the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) to develop a system to screen and immediately suspend fake images from both public and officials. The system aims to prevent false information from entering the platform, ensuring transparency and quick responses to public complaints, thereby restoring confidence in the digital system.
The spokesperson expressed gratitude to the 'Thai Style Footpath' page for raising awareness and apologized for the incident. The officer involved has admitted guilt and will face disciplinary action. The Bang Phlat District Office re-investigated from July 17, 2025, and has sent notices to the offenders to face legal action. The public is encouraged to report any false information in the Traffy Fondue system to facilitate immediate rectification.
The Bang Phlat District Office reiterated that parking motorcycles on the footpath violates Section 17 (2) and incurs a fine under Section 56 of the Cleanliness Maintenance Act B.E. 2535. A letter has been sent to the vehicle owner to clarify the situation within 15 business days, and failure to comply will lead to strict legal actions. The district office is monitoring the situation to ensure the law is enforced equally and seriously.
