Bangkok Brewery Fire Fatalities Linked to Toxic Gas Inhalation

Bangkok: The Bangkok Metropolitan Police Commissioner revealed that most of the fatalities in the brewery fire were due to inhaling toxic gas.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, Commander of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police, shared updates on the investigation into the fire at the Ladprao Beer Garden. Forensic findings indicated that the victims did not succumb directly to the flames but to suffocation after inhaling toxic gases. The examination showed the presence of carbon monoxide and cyanide in the victims' bodies. These substances impede oxygen absorption in tissues and can be lethal in large quantities within a matter of minutes.

Moreover, evidence from the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) has emerged as a crucial aspect of the investigation, pointing towards negligence. Initially, the establishment had applied for a 30/100 amp fuse system but later increased its usage and sought an upgrade. However, when MEA officials attempted an inspection, the shop refused, citing unpreparedness. This refusal suggests that the shop may have altered its electrical system, leading to an overload and short circuit, which potentially caused the devastating fire.
