Bangkok: BAFS expects aviation fuel this year to reach 5,400 million liters, preparing proactive plans to cope with economic uncertainty. ML Natthasit Diskul, President of Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services Public Company Limited (BAFS), revealed the operating results for the first quarter of 2025 that after the COVID-19 outbreak situation eased, the tourism sector has gradually recovered over the past 1-2 years, despite still facing pressure amidst the challenges of both domestic and international economic factors. As a result, the BAFS Group continues to grow and make continuous profits from the previous year, with a net profit of 143.3 million baht, an increase of 73%, with total revenue of 967 million baht, an increase of 12% compared to the same period last year, while EBITDA grew to 521.9 million baht, an increase of 14% compared to the same period last year.
According to Thai News Agency, the Aviation business group continued to recover in the first quarter, with revenue of 786.3 million baht and aviation fuel refueling volume of 1,422 million liters, an increase of 13% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 88% of the level before the COVID-19 outbreak, in line with the increase in total aviation fuel refueling volume of all destination continents, especially China, which still has the highest refueling volume, and the South Asian market that has recovered strongly, resulting in this year. The annual aviation fuel refueling volume is expected to be 5,400 million liters, reflecting the positive direction of the aviation industry that has returned to steady growth.
The Utilities business group grew rapidly in the first quarter of 2025, with the total oil transportation volume of BAFS Pipeline Transport Co., Ltd. at 363 million liters, up 24%, with a target to increase the market share to 37% by 2025 with the oil transportation volume of 1,290 million liters. In addition, BAFS Pipeline Transport Co., Ltd. has started construction of the Northern Oil Pipeline Network, Phase 3 (Ang Thong-Saraburi), with the project currently progressing by approximately 14%. It is expected that after commercial service starts, the market share in the northern region will reach 70% by 2027.
'The company is monitoring the global economy from the impact of the US import tariffs, the downward trend in interest rates and exchange rate volatility, which may affect international travel and the number of tourists. However, BAFS remains committed to operating with a sustainable growth mindset and is proactively preparing to cope with and face challenges from economic uncertainty, in line with the strategy to create a balanced income from all business groups,' said ML Natthasit.
