Attorney General Orders Appeal in Thaksin Case Under Section 112

Bangkok: The Attorney General has overturned the original decision and ordered an appeal in the case against former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who is accused of violating Article 112 of the Criminal Code and the 2017 Computer Crimes Act. The case involves an interview given by Thaksin to a South Korean television station, which allegedly contained content offensive to the monarchy, despite the Criminal Court's earlier dismissal of the case.

According to Thai News Agency, the Public Prosecutor's Office 8 was previously granted an extension by the Criminal Court to file a second appeal until November 21, 2025, to allow for an internal review. The case had seen the Attorney General's Committee for the Consideration of Section 112 Cases vote 8 to 2 against appealing, before referring the matter to the Attorney General.

However, the Attorney General has now decided to reverse the committee's decision and proceed with an appeal. This development marks a significant turn in the legal proceedings related to Thaksin's controversial interview.
