Nakhon ratchasima: The 2nd Army Area has appointed the sister of a sergeant major who died on the Thai-Cambodian border to replace her in the service, honoring her sacrifice for the nation.
According to Thai News Agency, the Second Army Region announced via their Facebook page on December 2, 2015, that they would be recruiting relatives of soldiers who died in battle to take their places in military service. This initiative aims to preserve sovereignty, peace, order, and the safety of the people, even in times of national threat or combat. The recent clashes along the Thai-Cambodian border resulted in the death of Sergeant Nopphon Boonlert, a patrolman from the 6th Long Range Reconnaissance Company, while defending the country.
The Royal Thai Army has put in place measures to provide care to the families of those who have sacrificed. A significant measure is the appointment of relatives of the deceased into military service. This effort is intended to alleviate their suffering, provide job security for the family, and honor the deceased as a defender of the nation. In line with this, the Second Army Region has appointed Ms. Suwimol Boonlert, the older sister of Sergeant Boonlert, as a non-commissioned officer in the 22nd Military District, with her duties commencing on November 24, 2025.
