Bangkok: Peerapat Rattanapongkiat clinched two gold medals in archery at the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, marking a significant achievement for the Thai national team. Competing in the men's individual compound bow event and the mixed doubles event, Peerapat showcased his skill and precision, contributing to Thailand's success at the Games.
According to Thai News Agency, the final day of the archery competition, hosted at the Sports Authority of Thailand in Hua Mak, featured three gold medal events. Peerapat faced Malaysia's Juwadi in the men's individual compound bow final. Over the course of 15 arrows, Peerapat demonstrated superior accuracy, winning the match with a score of 147 to Juwadi's 145, thus securing his first gold medal.
In the mixed doubles compound archery event, Peerapat teamed up with "Natty" Kanhawee Maneesombatkul to compete against a Vietnamese duo. The competition involved firing four sets of three arrows per pair, with both teams initially scoring 147 points. A decisive shoot-off followed, where each pair shot two arrows. The Thai team hit both arrows for 10 points each, achieving a total of 20 points, while the Vietnamese pair scored 18. This victory brought the Thai archery team their second gold medal of the Games.
After his remarkable performance, Peerapat expressed his joy at surpassing expectations in his debut on the national team. He stated his commitment to continuing his efforts if given another opportunity to represent Thailand in future competitions.
