Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister, has expressed confidence in the progress of the cabinet formation, anticipating its imminent submission for royal endorsement. He stated that the names of the prospective ministers are currently undergoing thorough background checks, which include evaluations conducted through court offices across the nation. These checks are designed to ensure confidence in the appointments, and many results have already been received.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin is particularly tight-lipped about the identity of the new Minister of Justice, only confirming that the selection has been finalized. He declined to disclose whether the appointee is a police officer, promising to reveal all names once the entire process is concluded.
Responding to speculation regarding the Minister of Justice's connections to Buriram Province, Anutin countered by questioning whether the current minister has any affiliations elsewhere, emphasizing that personal ties are common among politicians.
Anutin also confirmed the creation of a new position, Deputy Minister of Defense, citing a newly identified necessity for the role. However, he withheld further details until the necessary procedures are completed.
Despite the complexities involved in forming the cabinet, Anutin expressed no concerns about the process. He noted that he has been in regular communication with the Cabinet Secretary to ensure a smooth transition from the previous government. He assured that the nomination of cabinet members is progressing expeditiously, with all necessary constitutional checks being diligently conducted.
