Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, has pledged that the current Ministry of Interior will not interfere in the Khao Kradong case, emphasizing the importance of upholding legal rights. He confirmed that there will be no investigation into the committee led by Decha Isara, as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior has already clarified that any grievances should be pursued through legal channels. Additionally, Anutin disclosed plans by the Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration to add poker to the list of gambling activities.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin highlighted that the guiding principles for handling the Khao Kradong case are rooted in law rather than arbitrary rules. He stated, "If wrong is wrong, it is wrong, and if right is right, justice is served." When questioned about his stance on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn's suggestion for the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to address each plot individually, Anutin emphasized that actions should align with the law, ensuring no harassment or political bias.
Anutin expressed his readiness to provide explanations if the Pheu Thai Party challenges him during its policy statement. When asked about the possibility of investigating the Khao Kradong committee's order, which revoked land using Section 61, paragraph 8 of the Land Code, Anutin reiterated that an investigation is unnecessary. He referred to a press conference held by senior officials, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, which confirmed that previous procedures were followed correctly. He stressed that individuals dissatisfied with the committee's decision can pursue legal action.
Addressing concerns about the revocation of Khao Kradong land under Section 61, paragraph 8, Anutin assured that legal rights would be fully upheld without interference from the Minister of the Interior. He stated that all Deputy Ministers of the Interior are instructed to avoid any interference, in line with the Prime Minister's directive for absolute non-interference.
On the topic of poker's status as a gambling activity, Anutin mentioned that a draft proposal has been submitted for his consideration. He assured that any decision would be made with caution and due diligence, consulting experts to weigh potential benefits and drawbacks, ultimately prioritizing the welfare of the people and the nation.
