Youth Attack Linked to Revenge in Samut Prakan

Bangkok: Five youths were brutally beaten by a group of more than 10 teenagers in an alleyway in the Bang Sao Thong area. The motive is believed to be revenge for a friend who was shot dead in the Chalong Krung area.

According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage from the end of Soi 5, Srisachorakhenoi Subdistrict, Bang Sao Thong District, Samut Prakan Province, captured at least 10 teenagers on motorcycles chasing a group of youths aged 14 to 17, the victims, who fled for their lives and were cornered at the end of the alley. A violent brawl ensued in the middle of the community. Residents were too afraid to intervene or help for fear of being harmed. Five people were injured. Residents quickly notified Bang Sao Thong Police Station and Po Teck Tung Bang Phli rescue workers. All five had bruises on their faces and bodies from the beating. One of the five was soaking wet after being thrown into a fish pond at the end of the alley. Rescue workers provided first aid and transported them to Bang Sao Thong Hospital. Police officers provided security to prevent the perpetrators from continuing the attack at the hospital.

According to the initial investigation, the injured parties stated that they were a group of five riding motorcycles and taking pictures in Soi Lad Krabang 54. Upon reaching the entrance of the soi where the incident occurred, they encountered a group of teenagers they had never met before. The group followed them, brandished weapons, and began attacking them. They fled on their motorcycles into a residential alley hoping for safety, but the other group pursued and continued to assault them.

Local residents have provided information that on the evening before the incident, Wat Sri Warin Noi was the cremation site for a vocational school student who was shot and killed by rivals from a different institution the day before, near Soi Chalong Krung 8. A large group of the deceased's friends attended the ceremony and, at the crematorium, announced that they would seek revenge that night, killing at least two more people. It is suspected that the perpetrators may be connected to this incident.

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to find clues about the perpetrators and have deployed patrols to high-risk areas along major roads to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
