A total of 51 teenagers were detained and 71 motorcycles were seized by police last night for street racing in Bangkok area.
Tourist Police Division deputy commander Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakparn said the arrest of these teenagers was conducted jointly by tourist police, 191 Special Patrol Police, and metropolitan police from the Metropolitan Police Bureau 5.
He said these teenagers, one of them just 12-year-old, were arrested for street racing on Rama IV road.
A total of 51 teenagers were rounded up, 71 motorcycles were seized.
He said urine test on these street racers showed seven of them who included four underaged, were positive to drugs.
He said these young street racers would be sent for behavioural training courses on January.
He said if these young street racers were found to have police record on street racing, their parents would be held responsible.
They could face three months in jail, and a fine of 30,000 baht, or both, under the order of the military junta to crack down on street racing.
