Young Man Causes Panic in Mukdahan Village After Drug-Induced Incident

Mukdahan: An entire village was gripped with fear as a young man, high on drugs, caused a scene by wandering, dancing, and ultimately collapsing in the middle of the road. The individual, later identified as 25-year-old Mr. Phanwasa, alarmed villagers and passing motorists with his erratic behavior, leading to police intervention and his subsequent apprehension.

According to Thai News Agency, a video captured by residents of Ban Suk Samran, Bang Sai Noi Subdistrict, Wan Yai District, shows the young man, believed to be under the influence of drugs, engaging in bizarre activities. The footage depicts Mr. Phanwasa performing a dance, making gestures as if bowing to a teacher, and yelling threats before lying sprawled on the road. His actions created panic among onlookers and prompted police from the Wan Yai Police Station to investigate.

Upon identifying Mr. Phanwasa as the man in the video, officers proceeded to his home, armed with “forked sticks” for safety, only to find him peacefully asleep. The police made the arrest without incident and conducted a search of the premises, during which they confiscated a large axe. When questioned, Mr. Phanwasa admitted to using methamphetamine, claiming to have taken only two pills. He asserted that sunbathing, and even moonbathing, helped detoxify his body from the drug’s effects.

Residents expressed relief at the intervention, noting a stark change in Mr. Phanwasa’s behavior since his drug use began. Previously known for normal behavior, he had become known for talking to himself, climbing trees, and lying in the middle of the road. Villagers hope for his rehabilitation to restore his former self.

The police have charged Mr. Phanwasa with consuming a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine) and are arranging his transfer for rehabilitation, aiming to address his drug use and prevent future incidents.
