According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Yotsanun Wongsawat, who serves as both Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, presented a special lecture titled "Empowering the Future National Development Directions with World-Changing Technology and Innovation" at the Panyapiwat Institute of Management's MBA program. He highlighted Thailand's efforts to address digital and AI-era challenges by fostering new economic growth engines, transitioning from traditional resources to innovation-driven strategies. This transformation involves creating competitive advantages through government-led support in high-risk research and development, facilitating private sector advancements.
The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the priority of human resource development, introducing the "Thailand Sphere Nation of Masters" concept. This initiative seeks to nurture highly skilled individuals by reforming the education system into an integrated, multidisciplinary platform. The approach encourages collaboration among experts from various fields and emphasizes reskilling and upskilling to develop "deep generalists" with specialized knowledge applicable across disciplines.
Thailand's strategy for achieving world-class innovation involves three pillars "Siam Medica" for medical technology, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology; "Siam Terra" for future food and agricultural technology; and "Siam Silica" for electronics and semiconductor industries. These strategies require a fundamental scientific approach and investment in advanced infrastructure, such as synchrotron light sources, to attract investment and elevate research capabilities in the country.
