Woody Wutthithorn Transforms MCOT Land for 2026 Songkran Cultural Center

Bangkok: Woody Wutthithorn, the founder of the S2O music festival, has announced a significant transformation of over 50 rai of vacant land near the Cultural Center into "S2O Land" for the upcoming 2026 Songkran festival. This move marks the return of the S2O music festival to MCOT, with the venue being described as its most potent in 11 years. In addition to the S2O festival, a new festival, K2O, will cater to K-pop fans.

According to Thai News Agency, Woody posted on Facebook revealing behind-the-scenes details about this year's event, which faced potential cancellation due to scheduling conflicts at the original venue, Rajamangala National Stadium. The stadium was set to host an important football match during Songkran, prompting a last-minute search for an alternative venue capable of accommodating a large influx of tourists.

Woody specified that the new venue needed to be larger than 50 rai, distanced from residential areas yet located centrally and near the BTS Skytrain. The land owned by MCOT near the Cultural Center met these needs perfectly. Previously a jungle within the city, the area has been converted into a spacious and airy site, ready to compete with S2O venues in other global cities.

The upcoming festival will feature world-class DJs for EDM fans, alongside the newly announced K2O festival, a K-Pop music event scheduled for April 14th. This addition aims to attract the younger generation, offering varied musical experiences during the Songkran festival.

Woody also expressed a personal connection to MCOT, reminiscing about his career beginnings with hit programs like "Kerd Ma Kui" (Born to Talk) and morning variety shows. Returning to MCOT to recreate S2O Land feels like coming home to a familiar environment.

The S2O Festival and K2O are slated to energize S2O Land, located at MRT Cultural Center Station, from April 11-14. Organizers are optimistic about the event's success, anticipating a fresh and improved start.
