A woman and her daughter were killed in a ride-by gun attack by two assailants in Bacho district of Narathiwat province on Saturday morning, police said.
Pol Lt Akarat Nuangmatcha, an investigator of Paluka Samo police station in Bacho district, said the incident happened on Paluka Samo-Ton Sai road in Tambon Paluka Samo.
Eyewitnesses told police that Nittaya Kaenruang, 40, and her daughter Atchara, 18, left home on a motorcycle in the morning to buy foods at the Ton Sai market. On their way back to Ban Paluka Samo, two men followed them on another motorcycle. While nearing the village, the pillion-rider fired one shot each at the two women, causing their motorcycle to skid off the road.
The gunman walked toward the two victims and shot them in the head before riding away on their motorcycle.
The motive of the killings was being investigated.
