Bangkok: "Wisut" has confirmed that the government's 324 MPs are prepared to back the 2026 budget bill to expedite economic stimulus efforts. He expressed confidence that there will be no political mishaps or dissolution of parliament. Furthermore, "Paethongtarn" has pledged her team's presence to support the parliamentary proceedings.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wisut Chainarun, Chairman of the Coordinating Committee (Government Whip), assured that all 324 government MPs from various political parties are ready to deliberate on the draft of the 2026 budget bill and accept its principle without any issues. He acknowledged the current political climate, where some individuals may attempt to instigate unrest, but urged confidence in the work of the whips. He emphasized the importance of approving the draft budget bill, given the global economic challenges and specific issues facing Thailand, such as the aftermath of an earthquake and the tariff wall imposed by the United States. The government has designated 157 billion baht to stimulate the economy, and any delay could exacerbate problems. Mr. Wisut is confident that politicians are committed to ensuring the country's economic stability and believes cooperation will prevail, preventing any political accidents.
Regarding the appointment of bodyguards, Mr. Wisut stated there is no necessity for such measures. The Pheu Thai Party has academic resources prepared to provide MPs with debate materials, including charts, which should suffice. He believes that time allocation for debates is well-organized, allowing each party adequate opportunity to present their arguments, thus preventing issues.
Addressing the opposition's intention to debate budget transfers for the digital wallet project, Mr. Wisut indicated that the government can justify the economic necessity of these actions. While some parties suggest postponing, he stressed the urgency of economic stimulation due to global issues that require collective resolution. The government is ready to explain and justify its position. Mr. Wisut also outlined the debate's time frame, allocating 40 hours equally between parties. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the schedule to maximize efficiency and ensure the Prime Minister's participation, potentially with her entire team, at the parliamentary discussions.
