“War Elephants” Set to Compete Against Cambodia and Timor-Leste in SEA Games Men’s Football


Bangkok: The Thai men’s football team, known as the “War Elephants,” will compete against Cambodia and Timor-Leste in Group A during the SEA Games men’s football tournament, which is set to begin its group stage matches in Songkhla Province.

According to Thai News Agency, the draw for the 33rd SEA Games men’s football competition was conducted at the Deluxe Resort and Spa Hotel in Bangkok. The event, scheduled for October 19, 2025, was organized by the SEA Games Organizing Committee, marking Thailand as the host nation for this edition.

The competition features participation from 10 countries, with teams allocated into groups based on their performance in the previous 2023 SEA Games. The draw resulted in three groups, each consisting of three teams. The format stipulates that the three group champions, along with the best second-placed team, will progress to the semi-finals.

The group allocations are as follows: Group A comprises Thailand, Cambodia, and Timor-Leste; Group B includes Vietnam, Malaysia, and
Laos; and Group C consists of Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, and Singapore. The Thai team will play their group matches at Tinsulanon Stadium in Songkhla Province. Meanwhile, matches for Groups B and C will take place at the 700th Anniversary Chiang Mai Stadium in Chiang Mai Province. The semi-finals and finals will be held at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok.
