The government will continues its fight against corruption and wastefulness even though the fight is hard and time-consuming, Vietnamese Communist Party general secretary Nguyen Phu Trong told voters in Hanoi's Dong Anh and Long Bein districts on Wednesday.
We will resolutely fight against corruption and wastefulness with many measures, including laws, policies, public supervision, media coverage and discipline within the party, said Trong as reported by the Vietnam News Online on Thursday.
Regarding the corruption cases involving Trinh Xuan Thanh, former vice chairman of the Hau (Giang provincial People's Committee, and former minister of industry and trade Vu Huy Hoang, the general secretary said the disciplinary measures taken were only those imposed by the party. Investigations into other aspects of the cases were underway.
He further said that proper regulations were needed to punish similar violators.
