A Vietnamese woman was arrested at Suvarnabhumi international airport for stealing a tablet from a Thai passenger.
The passenger, Mr Pongsatorn Thongsamlee, lodged a complaint with the airport's police at about 11 pm Saturday night that his tablet had been missing.
He told the police that he was waiting at the departure building on the 4th floor of the airport to catch Thai Smile's flight WE 265 bound for Pattani. As he left his seat toward the departure gate for a while, he realized he forgot his tablet which was left on the seat next to him.
He quickly raced back to the seat to look for the device, but it was nowhere to be seen. He asked around several passengers who were sitting nearby, but to no avail.
Police then quickly contacted airport security to examine CCTV system at the spot and they found a suspect, identified later as Mrs Pham Thi Thuy. She was found and questioned during which she admitted taking the tablet and putting it in a toilet.
Police then went to the toilet and found the tablet. They questioned the cleaner there, Mrs Patthira Srisombat, who fingered at the Vietnamese woman for bringing the device into the toilet.
Mrs Pham Thi Thuy was charged with theft at the airport which carries a jail term from 1-5 years and/or a fine between 2,000-10,000 baht.
