Hanoi: Vietnam is set to embark on the construction of a new high-speed railway line connecting Hanoi with the Quang Ninh province. The project aims to commence operations by early 2028.
According to Thai News Agency, the construction is scheduled to begin by 2025. The project will be developed by a subsidiary of Vingroup, Vietnam's leading conglomerate. The new railway line will span 120 kilometers and is projected to cost approximately 138 trillion dong, equivalent to about 5.1 trillion baht.
The high-speed railway will traverse through Hanoi and the northern provinces of Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh. This development is a part of Vietnam's railway network plan for the period 2021-2030, under Vision 2050. The new railway line will complement Vietnam's existing North-South High-Speed Railway, which connects Hanoi with Ho Chi Minh City.
