Bangkok: The deputy spokesperson has called on the public to donate blood to support hospitals along the Thai-Cambodian border amid an urgent need for blood reserves.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Government Spokesperson, highlighted the critical situation at the border, emphasizing an immediate requirement for blood to assist all affected groups, including the injured, elderly, and bedridden patients. The National Blood Centre of the Thai Red Cross Society has reported this urgent necessity for increased blood supplies to aid hospitals in the region.
The public is encouraged to donate blood at the National Blood Centre on Henri Dunant Road. The center operates Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM, and on Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. With facilities to accommodate over 1,500 donors daily, the center plays a crucial role in meeting this urgent demand.
Due to ongoing construction and renovations at the Blood Center, donors are advised to use public transportation as parking availability is limited.
For those outside Bangkok, blood donations can be made at any of the 11 National Blood Service Centers nationwide or at provincial blood service units in locations such as Nakhon Sawan, Phitsanulok, Chiang Mai, Lopburi, Ratchaburi, Chonburi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Phuket.
The deputy spokesperson stressed the importance of this blood donation drive, describing it as "life-saving" and a critical component in supporting border hospitals during emergencies. The public is urged to participate and contribute to this vital cause.
