Trang: Gang leader and one subordinate set fire to three people in a palm oil plantation in Trang Province. They have contacted authorities to surrender, fearing they will be executed after authorities mobilized to pursue them. This morning, the Khok Na Police Station, the area responsible for the burning of three bodies in an oil palm plantation in Sikao District, Trang Province, received a request from a former provincial council member in Sikao District that they would bring two suspects to surrender: Mr. Supphakon or Bin, 37 years old, from Kalase Subdistrict, Sikao District, Trang Province, who is the gang leader, and Mr. Charonchai or Taem, 32 years old, from Village 7, Nam Phut Subdistrict, Mueang District, Trang Province, because the two suspects were worried about their safety if they continued to flee and feared they would be extrajudicially executed. This is after officers and villagers surrounded the house in Khao Lak, a steep and rugged mountain area, to hunt down the four suspects since the morn ing of May 14.
According to Thai News Agency, the two suspects met officials in the palm oil plantation area where the incident occurred at 4:00 AM this morning. The other two suspects are still at large. Police initially believe that the other two suspects are still hiding in the Khao Lak area, but if they escape from their hideout, they will cross over to Nakhon Si Thammarat and Phatthalung provinces. Police have taken Mr. Supphakon or Bin, the gang leader, into custody for questioning at the Khok Yang Police Station in Kantang District. Mr. Charonchai or Taem, the subordinate, is being held at the Khao Wiset Police Station in Wang Wiset District for separate questioning.
For the other two suspects who are still at large, namely Mr. Piyasak or Jack, age 33, from Kalase Subdistrict, and Mr. Rapiphan or Theuk, age 36, from Bo Hin Subdistrict, Sikao District, Trang Province, the police are currently investigating and expanding the investigation to track down the remaining suspects and collect additional evidence in detail to create an initial case file.
