Bangkok:The Ministry of Tourism and Sports is actively responding to the challenges faced by tourists due to heavy rainfall, ensuring swift assistance to stranded passengers.
According to Thai News Agency, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Surasak Panjaroenvorakul, has directed all related agencies to coordinate efforts to support tourists affected by adverse weather conditions. An operations center has been established, and a 24-hour hotline, 1155, has been set up to facilitate immediate assistance.
The Ministry has deployed personnel to Suvarnabhumi Airport in response to flight cancellations, where many tourists have been stranded. Efforts are being made to expedite support and provide necessary facilities to those affected by the disruptions.
The Tourist Police Command and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) have collaborated to create an operations center dedicated to addressing the situation. The Tourist Police hotline will serve as a primary contact point for tourists seeking assistance, working alongside the Tourist Assistance Center (TAC) around the clock.
Additionally, TAT is in close communication with hotels, accommodations, and tourism businesses to aid tourists experiencing delays or needing to extend their stay. They are also distributing vital information to help tourists adapt their travel plans.
Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, emphasized the government's focus on tourist safety and the importance of minimizing travel disruptions. Coordinated efforts are ongoing to ensure tourists receive timely support and accurate information.
Tourists in need of help are encouraged to reach out to the Tourist Police hotline, while the Ministry continues to monitor the situation closely and coordinate with relevant agencies to provide comprehensive assistance.
