Florida: Tiger Woods, the acclaimed 15-time Major champion golfer, is set to appear in a Florida court to change his plea concerning charges of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). This development follows his initial denial of these charges, which stem from an incident in March.
According to Thai News Agency, Woods' legal team has submitted a request to the Martin County District Court for a hearing that will allow him to alter his previous testimony. The court documents do not clarify how Woods plans to present his new testimony.
The 50-year-old golfing icon was involved in a rollover accident where he initially claimed to have been distracted by his cell phone, leading him to collide with a slowing pickup truck. Fortunately, the incident did not result in any injuries. Despite his claims, the arrest report noted the discovery of two hydrocodone pills in Woods' possession and described his demeanor as drowsy, slow to respond, and exhibiting signs of impairment such as sweating, red eyes, and dilated pupils.
Following the incident, Woods was granted permission by a judge to seek treatment and rehabilitation abroad at a specialized medical facility. He had earlier announced his temporary withdrawal from competitive golf to prioritize his health and recovery.
