Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Thammanat Prompao has dismissed calls for his removal, emphasizing the Kla Tham Party's readiness to contest the forthcoming election. Thammanat described these calls as a routine aspect of politics. He also shared discussions with the Prime Minister focused on tackling scammers, stressing the importance of vigilance against such activities, and confirmed Kla Tham Party's preparedness for the electoral battle.
According to Thai News Agency, Thammanat, speaking post-assignment at the Ministry of Agriculture, reiterated the Kla Tham Party's comprehensive preparation for the election. He highlighted the recruitment of candidates across all 400 constituencies nationwide, including individuals from other political parties like Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai, all of whom have credible records in their constituencies.
Thammanat mentioned that while the party has not predicted the number of seats it aims to secure in the House of Representatives, it remains confident in its capabilities and election readiness. He stressed that the party's current focus is on its work, undeterred by political developments or speculations about an early Parliament dissolution.
He further outlined plans to visit six southern provinces-Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, Su-ngai Kolok, Phatthalung, Satun, and Trang-to address local issues, aiming to demonstrate the party's commitment to public service beyond political maneuvering.
In addition, Thammanat announced an upcoming trip to China on November 11th to discuss exporting Thai agricultural products like bird's nests, poultry, beehives, and honey, expanding market opportunities for Thai farmers.
Addressing Rangsiman Rome's calls for his dismissal based on unverified links to a scammer gang, Thammanat noted that such political dynamics are standard. He acknowledged the opposition's role in seeking to make political gains, asserting that the opposition must find ways to distinguish itself in the absence of executive power.
Thammanat clarified that issues related to scams and other financial crimes, such as money laundering or online gambling, are distinct. He confirmed the Prime Minister's dedication to eradicating scam networks in Thailand, following a recent meeting to address the issue.
