Thaksin Shinawatra’s Parole Decision to Be Announced: Key Meeting Scheduled at Ministry of Justice

Bangkok: Waiting anxiously tomorrow! Will Thaksin be granted parole and fitted with an EM (Electronic Monitoring) bracelet? Ruttaphol revealed that the results of Thaksin's parole application, including whether he will wear an EM bracelet and the conditions of the application, will be known on April 29.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Gen. Ruddhaphol Naowarat, Minister of Justice, gave an interview regarding the parole of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, stating that a meeting of the Parole Board at the Ministry of Justice will be held on April 29th. The consideration will be conducted in accordance with regulations.

The meeting will address the use of EM bracelets, with inquiries made to the Department of Probation to determine the conditions for exemption from wearing an EM bracelet. This includes any reporting requirements, which are regulations set by the Department of Probation.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttapol emphasized that the meeting on April 29th will reveal all the conclusions, including the issue of EM bracelets. Once the results are known, there is no need for submission to any other committee, as it falls under the authority of the Permanent Secretary to consider.

When questioned by reporters about the possibility of a condition prohibiting Thaksin from engaging in politics, Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttapol clarified that such a condition is not a factor in considering parole.
